Sheila is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) providing clinical services at the Somerset office. She works with children and adolescents aged 6–17 and adults of all ages, tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
Sheila earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. As a U.S. Army veteran and military spouse, Sheila is deeply committed to serving the military community and veterans of the Armed Forces. She also has a special passion for working with adults aged 65 and older, addressing the specific challenges and transitions unique to this stage of life.
Inclusive and culturally competent, Sheila creates a safe and supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. With experience in residential and outpatient treatment settings, she specializes in treating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health diagnoses. Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, life transitions, stress, trauma, grief, self-worth, sexual abuse, women’s issues, relationship and marital concerns, and personality disorders.
Sheila believes in a collaborative, client-centered approach to counseling, recognizing that the therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of effective therapy. Her goal is to meet clients where they are and walk alongside them on their journey to where they want to be. She fosters a non-judgmental, empathetic environment where clients feel accepted, understood, and empowered to overcome challenges and embrace personal growth.
Drawing from a variety of therapeutic models, Sheila’s treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), person-centered therapy, art therapy, play therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. She takes an integrative approach to help clients build on their strengths, overcome barriers, and make meaningful, positive changes in their lives.
